What is Furnace Oil ?

In crude distillation units, furnace oil is usually a dark viscous residual fuel obtained through the mixing of heavier components. Furnace Oil is classified according to IS 1593:2018 specifications as LV, MV1, MV2 and HV. According to PESO classifications, FO belongs to Class C.

Applications of Furnace Oil

  • FO is mainly used as a Fuel for combustion equipment in Industries for firing Boilers, Thermic Fluid Heaters, Industrial Furnaces, Foundry furnaces, Glass furnaces etc.
  • Slow-speed engines for captive power generation.
